If you’re looking for an RV getaway from Philadelphia with pools, waterfront time, and activities for the family, Sun Outdoors Rehoboth Bay is worth a look. In my campground review, I shared what stood out to me about its resort-style camping experience—and why it could be a good fit for a trip in a NomadsRV rental.
This article is adapted from my video review. The observations below describe the experience I covered in that video; I’ve also linked the campground’s official information so you can check the details for your own dates.
A Delaware getaway from the Philadelphia area
In the video, I described the trip as roughly two and a half hours south of Philadelphia. Treat that as a planning estimate: your starting point, route, traffic, and stops will affect the drive. Give yourself enough time to arrive and set up without rushing.
The resort is on Rehoboth Bay, with its own bayfront beach. It’s a different setting from staying directly on the Atlantic Ocean beach. If ocean beaches or boardwalk outings are part of your plan, build in transportation time. See the official resort page for location and booking information.
What stood out: pools and a private beach
One feature I highlighted was the swim-up pool bar. The pool area gives the property a vacation-resort feel rather than simply being a place to park an RV. I also covered the separate family pool as another place to spend time.
The private bayfront beach was another highlight. In my review, I described the water as calm and shallow during the visit. Conditions can change, so assess the water when you arrive and supervise children closely.
The resort’s current amenities page lists the private beach, a family pool with a splash zone, and the swim-up bar pool. The pool bar is listed as operating May through September, weather permitting. Check the schedule for your dates, especially outside summer.
Food and evening activities
In my video, I talked about the tiki bar near the waterfront, food options, and live music in the evenings. Having places to eat on the property can make a campground day easier when you don’t feel like packing up for every meal.
I also highlighted outdoor movie nights near the fire pit and the ice cream shop. Those were the kinds of details that made the campground feel like a place where families could spend the day and evening together.
For your trip, check the activity calendar rather than assuming every event runs every night. The official dining page currently lists Paradise Landing Tiki Bar and Happy Jack’s Cafe, along with other on-site options. Hours and offerings may vary.
Paddling, boating, and time on the bay
My review covered kayaking, paddleboarding, fishing, and crabbing, as well as access for guests bringing a boat or jet ski. If your family likes spending time on the water, that’s a useful part of the campground experience to investigate.
Before bringing equipment, contact the resort about rentals, launch access, trailer parking, slip availability, and applicable charges. I mentioned some of those arrangements in the video, but don’t rely on an older visit for today’s parking or fee policies.
If you plan to tow with a rental, discuss the trailer and equipment with NomadsRV before booking. Keep the campground arrangements and the rental vehicle’s approved use coordinated.
Choose your campsite around your plans
The resort offers several RV site types. Its current site descriptions place Beachside sites near the private beach and pool bar, while Coveside options are near the family pool, kayak launch, and dog park.
Think about which areas you’ll use most. A location that makes walking easier can matter as much as the view. Confirm your exact site’s dimensions, hookups, parking allowance, and location when reserving; don’t assume every site has the same setup.
Who I’d suggest this campground for
Based on the experience I described in my review, I’d put Sun Outdoors Rehoboth Bay on the list for families who want a campground with plenty to do on-site. It may also appeal to travelers who like the idea of combining RV camping with pools, dining, and waterfront recreation.
If your ideal trip is a quiet, remote campsite with very few organized activities, consider whether the resort atmosphere matches what you want. Choose the experience that suits your family rather than choosing only from photos.
Plan the RV and campground reservations together
Before reserving, check your dates with both the campground and your RV rental provider. A campsite reservation and an RV rental are separate bookings. Match the vehicle to the site and confirm the terms for each.
